Trace Solutions was formed over 30 years ago, with a brief to automate the intricate processes involved in property management. We were the first UK company to enter this market.
Effectively we defined the standards that still govern property management today. And while our current products are infinitely more sophisticated than those early systems, we're still regarded as a leader, guiding industry-wide initiatives such as OSCRE.
Property specialists
We also retain our absolute focus on property management. Within an organisation of around 50 staff, no fewer than 40 have property industry backgrounds: between them, an impressive 500 man-years of property industry experience.
Many of the companies we supplied back in the 1970s still use our property management systems today. Some 60% of clients have been with us for over a decade. All this in an industry where the average life span of a system is between 3 and 5 years.
The package approach
In 2003 we made the decision to focus our products still further, on the specific needs of key user groups: managing agents, investors and occupiers. This has allowed us to develop software 'packages', that achieve everything purchasers require without complex (and invariably expensive) bespoke development.
The drive for usability
Since April 2010 Trace Solutions has been wholly-owned by its employees, a development which has, quite simply, reinvigorated the company's approach to everything.
By the end of that year we were already driving forward significant changes to our user interfaces, unleashing the acknowledged power of our systems to users at all levels.
If anything, our obsession with usability is accelerating: 2011 sees the launch of the new Management by Exception editions of our products. These seek to ensure the absolute maximum automation of the property management process.
