Will our next release run on your current Microsoft software?

Make sure you upgrade obsolete Microsoft software

Microsoft regularly announce ‘end of life’ dates for their software. Once those dates are passed – sometimes as much as ten years after the product was initially released – Microsoft cease to issue routine security updates.

This has a direct effect on your use of our software.

As we cannot support our software if it is running on obsolete Microsoft platforms, we must cease support for those platforms too.

However, as we issue a new release every six months, and continue to support the previous two point releases, our ‘end of life’ schedule is three releases or 18 months prior to Microsoft’s own dates.

If that all sounds a bit complicated, let’s instead spell out the practical implications:

Our General Release 6.10.00 is due for release in December 2020. That will therefore be the last release with support for SQL Server 2012.

General Release 6.30.00 is due for release in December 2021. This will therefore be the last release level where support is available for:

  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows Server 2012R2

Please make a note of these dates to ensure that, where necessary, your Microsoft products have all been updated in good time.
